(1,985 posts)The last of our four cats passed on about six years ago. My husband and I had our various cats for up to 14 years. Thinking about replacing them was painful and just did not feel like the right time. So we waited.
We had our only child almost three years ago and our pointer-mix is now ten. About six months ago I adopted a pure white long hair kitten with blue eyes and named her Henry. She came from a litter that had a deaf kitten that looked just like her and there were two Siamese. I gave her to my husband for his birthday, he loves her.
Henry is a great cat. She is beautiful, playful, and loves to snuggle on me. She loves to play with the dog's tail and tolerates what the toddler does to her.
Looking at other people's cats no longer fills me with sadness and that longing to fill a void. I can now look at pictures of cats like the ones I just posted and know that if I were to walk into the other room, my Henry is doing something just as sweet.

(17,528 posts)Henry sounds adorable. How about a picture of her?
All those cat nappers are the cutest pictures I've ever see...what strange places and positions to sleep! Thanks for posting them.

(1,985 posts)We just got this tree house play thing for our toddler but Henry thinks it is for her.
This is Henry sleeping in the high chair at the counter.

(9,126 posts)So beautiful and must have some Maine Coon in her with a belly, tail and face like that.
Can I ask where you got that tree house? My cats would flip over it.

(1,985 posts)a Melissa and Doug toy for children. We bought it from a yard sale over the weekend for $25. It was in pieces in a box when we brought it home. We spread out the pieces to figure out how to put it together and Henry came over and crawled into the little roof-top part of the structure. She loves it. It has several lever/pulley/string features that are the favorite part my son likes to play with which makes the cat happy.

(9,126 posts)It looks like my cats are about the size of Henry so hopefully it can hold his weight. Looks like a little bit of cat fun, which is always good around here.

(8,492 posts)My old cat, Py, would turn into Jello when I'd try to put him in his harness. A 20 lb. bag of Jello. It was easier to dress a toddler.

(1,985 posts)Okay so I don't post often and when I used to post more frequently it was silly stuff in the Lounge.
I started this thread in the Lounge knowing it would be enjoyed. But I did not expect it to take my post to the greatest threads page. I underestimated the power of the cat thread.
Thanks for clicking on this thread and I am glad you enjoyed it.

(9,527 posts)Although my last cat never really slept in any unusual positions. She was too skittish for that. But she loved to sleep on top of me. When I was still awake and trying to find a comfortable place to sleep, she would just stand up and walk on top of me like I was a rolling log until I stopped and then she would settle right back down.
