3. Ahh.. hard to argue against Yes.. somehow, the cover seem to match their music perfectly as well.

15. Roger Dean is an incredible artist.

I've always loved the album covers he did for Yes, and his other work is well worth looking up.

20. Man.. I loved the packaging AEnima came in..

The textured plasctic that animated the images.. brilliance.. of course, they upped the ante with the stereoscopic cover of 10,000 Days.

21. So cool. I always appreciated their artistic presentation.

(As an aside, that 10,000 Days is particularly interesting to me, as I collect antique stereo cards & other vintage 3-D up images)

22. Very cool! I'm guessing you do have 10,000 days then?

I thought it was a great album, but then, I loved the slide into "prog metal" they were on to begin with.. a lot of my friends and fellow musicians wanted the old, angry Tool back, but damn.. from "Third Eye" on, I was totally down for whatever they wanted to experiment with.

23. Yep, & I like it - but then, I'm a big prog fan

I usually appreciate it when a band can expand their musical expression - I always thought that would be more fulfilling for the artists than sticking exclusively to the same style. I also think music can be powerful without being aggressive - which is probably why I like prog rock as well as melodic death metal.

24. Awesome.. and see, this subthread made me go and listen to Wings for Marie... haven't in a while.

Gorgeous.
"Fetch me the Spirit, the Son and the Father. Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended. It's time now, my time now.. give me my, give me my wings!"

Gives me goosebumps every time...

25. LOL - I was already planning to fire up 10,000 Days...

when I get to the office tomorrow (there's a remodeling project in the auditorium next door, so I have an excuse to crank the tunes!)

...but now...to bed!

Have a good night! Thanks for the fun thread.
