3. Or a shotgun

I don't think I'd get in the room with an arachnid that size.

6. Nah. I've kept spiders, snakes and lizards. Do you want a hole in your roof?

7. I had a friend that loved spiders

he's pretty well known in the tarantula world and he tried valiantly to turn me into a spider lover.

I was able to actually have one of them sit on me and crawl around...I didn't wet my pants so I thought I did pretty well. I'm not completely paralyzed by them but I won't go out of my way to be around them either. I also try not to kill spiders but the little jumping spiders we get around here I'll relocate P.D.Q. just because their reflexes are so quick they kind of freak me out.

I think the spider thing began when I was a kid visiting my grand parents. I closed the bathroom door then looking in the mirror saw a Wolf Spider that my kid brain interpreted as being the size of a dinner plate. My grandmother calmly wrapped it in a towel and released it in the yard, I thought she had some kind of superpower.

I've never had a problem with snakes and lizards of any kind, I haven't kept them myself but I've handled them and been around them without incident. Nice that the chameleon washes his own hands.

9. I was part of the NYC Herpetological Society in the '70s.

I probably heard of your friend if he was an old timer.

13. Maybe

It's been a number of years, his name is Stan Schultz and we were at the University of Calgary. He was working there when I was a student.

He loved to talk about spiders, he probably could have taught courses in Invertebrate Zoology but I think they remained a passionate hobby of his.

I kill spiders and roaches.

26. When mny son was in Jr High

I airbrushed that guy on his denim covered 3-ring binder.

I don't think it helped him score any babes.

Although he also routinely wore a Tom Baker style Dr Who giant scarf so he can't pin his early girlfriendlessness entirely on me.

21. Better spiders than mosqutoes, houseflies, gnats, midges, chiggers, no-see-ums, etc.

Seems like a fair trade...
