1. Whoa! Very cool indeed. And very cold indeed.

Almost makes me wish I lived in a climate frigid enough to do this. Almost ...

I was born there and spent my childhood in MA, ME and NH... mostly on the coast. Dad was from Centerville and is buried there too.

20. I was born

on the Tobin Bridge on the way to Chelsea NH! But we lived in Near So. Weymouth where my dad was stationed at the time. But his parents had an small estate in Centerville. We also lived in Brunswick and Harpswell, ME and Nashua, NH. I moved away in my teens, went back a few times and worked out of Plaineville/Foxboro for a time years ago but I'm out in the Rockies now. I like the high elevation, low population! But I do miss all the culture of the Boston area at times... being an artist in my spare time and all.

I remember my brother and I built a couple igloos when we were in that area but none were quite as organized or really nifty like the one in the OP.

21. Wow, what bragging rights! Born on the Tobin!

The day I was born, my mother took a cab to Lynn hospital coz my dad was at a football game. Guess he thought I wouldn't show coz I was 20 days late already. haha

25. Right on. :>)

I grew up with Bob, in a manner of speaking speaking. In the 60's.
BUT, I never saw him live...until the summer of 2011. Unbelievable, that.

26. Lucky you.

R U as weird? lol. I saw him for the first time in 2003 and then several times since. Been a fan since I was 15. I even kicked Ringo to the curb for the Bobster.

29. Wow, I love it when people get him

Last concert I saw was in Lowell at UMass. I ran like a kid to the stage and got to be in the front row, 10 feet from him. I was high for a month after that.

30. WOW!!

I'm jealous. :>

We were at a big summer concert venue-- classical, broadway, pop, rock, etc series... all reserved seats on a hill big amphitheater.. you get the picture...
Yo-Yo Ma was earlier in the summer....

My wife had only heard his older stuff from the 60's early 70's and couldn't believe how his 'style' had changed. :>)
I also took her to meet Hillary Clinton and Howard Dean when they came to town, but that's another great story...

31. Those are excellent gifts to give someone

I dragged my biker bro to a Tierney/Deval Patrick event a few months ago. Now he's so politically knowledgeable, he's annoying.

4. OMG! This is so very, very cool! And beautiful, too!

When I was very little, my Dad made me a snow igloo. I remember that it remained long after the rest of the snow had melted.

16. Cool Igloo - & the Link with its background makes it even better

Took five days to build. I wonder how many hours they put in on it.

9. Reading the story, looks like he was prompted to do this by his in-laws-to-be.

Apparently, they wanted to keep him busy while he was visiting. Sheesh. Couldn't they just make them sleep in separate rooms? Of course, he does have something very cool to show for it.

10. That is so beautiful, cool, and clever! Where'd you get all that ice?

Is it local? Do you live in Alaska?

When you light it up and sit inside, does it melt?

A lot of work. But it's beautiful.

17. They filled milk cartons with colored water

I am not sure where they live, but I am guessing they just left the cartons outside to freeze.

27. What a lot of effort...but worth it! I added a skylight to one we built, but

once the sun came out it really hastened it's demise.

Also as a kid -in Missouri and Ohio- we always made the entrance tunnel curved so other kids couldn't throw snowballs directly in at you!
