1. Violence begets violence. I would have preferred to see him restrained and arrested.

13. Yet another reason to not respond without having as much information as possible

Violence rarely solves anything and in my experience it's always at best a bad solution that might be better than other options.

The kid didn't seem to be in life or death peril. Jumping in with violence doesn't seem to have been merited to me.

continues with this behavior, he will have much tougher lessons ahead for him. if he cannot control this type of behavior he should have an adult guardian when in public places and around children or animals. unfortunately, the tit for tat may have been the universe's idea of radical aversion therapy. no, i am not trying to be a smarty pants about this.

mythology, if it were your little black child who had just been kicked by a white man for no reason at all other than mean - ness, how would you have explained the white man's actions? how would you have used this as a "teachable moment for non-violence"? please answer. it is one thing to espouse idealisms and quite another to respond when confronted with reality.

He catches himself with his right arm and elbow as he goes down and in the longer version you can see that he is conscious throughout.

If he was knocked out and went down on that tile floor from a standing position this could have been fatal.

Sidenote: Does this stuff happen anywhere other than fast food places ?
