4. Two...the spider bites him.

I said, near fatal.

I think there's one more. He was almost run through in the Orc cave, but the Mithril Shirt saved him.

Possibly a fourth at the end.

6. Too minor. I'm looking for the near fatal strikes or bites.

3. I'm going with three.....

Knife wound from the Black Rider, spear thrust from the cave troll in Moria and Shelob's sting.

What do I win?

8. Actually, he bit off the finger along with the ring...

...which is why Frodo was afterwards known as Frodo Of The Nine Fingers.

15. I was thinking of the bit in The Two Towers, when Frodo fell into The Dead Marshes

But, upon rereading the text, I find that it played out differently onscreen. Does that still count?

18. You get points for bringing out the fact it was in the book.

Damn. Frodo really got his ass kicked in. Poor little hobbit.

What about almost getting eaten/smothered by that tree?

It ain't easy being Frodo.

13. Was that Frodo or Sam?

Sam was the one who almost drowned at the end of the second movie.

28. if you include the books

Frodo was also knocked unconscious and captured by the barrow-wights. It's not exactly a fatal wounding, but it's a potentially fatal situation if the hobbits weren't rescued by Tom Bombadil.

The same with Old Man Willow - but, that was potentially fatal to Merry & Pippin, not Frodo directly.

27. Zero. As the story required Frodo to live, he would have even survived a beheading.
