I hope you all will go see the video embedded in the post I'm talking about here...

It is without question one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever recorded. Sheshe2 has posted it to wish all of us a happy holiday season!

http://www.democraticunderground.com/101788036

I was thrilled to see and hear it!

7. The "Ode to Joy" of Schiller and Beethoven

expresses something that fits perfectly with the holiday spirit. It has become the European international anthem. The crowd was singing it their own language.

12. Thank you for sending us there....

took me back to my childhood and one of the few good things about my father, his love for classical music and the joy of laying on the floor, eyes closed, earphones on and floating away on the waves of beauty, soaring on the wings of strings.....
truly the first positive flush of the Holidays.

20. Beautiful!!! And my favorite part?

.
.
.
All the children dancing and conducting and especially the little girl frozen in rapt attention
to the right and slightly behind the conductor throughout much of the piece until right at
the very end, when she had almost mysteriously disappeared.
.
.
.
Thank you for posting that.

I love how the actors' faces register reactions along with the song!

22. Beethoven who wrote this music, couldn't hear a word or note of it.

From the 9th Symphony, Ode to Joy, Beethoven lived for that symphony. But he had gone deaf. couldn't h ear a note, (at least that is what I read ) and..........it is my absolute favorite piece of classical music. Thanks for posting here.
