1. My dear Aristus!

Oh, what a shame that you have to work late....I hope that you will be done soon and get to go home to your good wife and some excellent dinner and spirits...

Rest well when you get there, OK?

2. Actually, in a couple of hours: pub trivia.

Excellent dinner & spirits with my brother and some friends. Great way to unwind after a crazy-making day...

Hope your birthday was wonderful, CalPeg!

8. Favorite drink?

I hate to admit it, but for me, Grasshopper has always been a favorite. My comfort drink late at night, if I have insomnia.

11. Do you get stuck doing late-night catch up,often in your field?

I rarely have to stay late, although if I'm swamped I will try come in an hour early and have lunch while work.

Do you have a particular time that us busier than normal? I have tax season.

15. Once a week, I stay late at the office getting caught up on patient paperwork.

Not medication refills and things like that; I try to get those out same-day. But patient records from previous providers, following up on referrals, formulating treatment plans, reviewing lab results, etc. I like a nice, clean desk at the end of my late-night.

12. Is the paperwork on scented paper?

If it was what scent would you prefer?

16. The scent is Evening In Copy Machine.

With a hint of Musty Office.

If only the paper was scented with lemon or orange, that would be nice...

17. Interesting.

I was just reading about primary care e-visits in my daily medical alert about ten minutes ago. It reports the results of a study that suggests that e-visits with a primary care provider for minor complaints like sinusitis result in overprescribing of anti-biotics. It makes sense; if the provider can't actually examine the patient and determine if the symptoms are viral or otherwise, he or she will prescribe a course of anti-biotics to cover their bets.

I don't do e-visits. If I don't have the patients in front of me, I'm not going to diagnose them. Just good medical sense...
