Worst part of putting up the Christmas tree?

I put ours up today. We hate cutting down trees, so we have a artificial one.

3. NONE OF THE ABOVE!

HOISTING 10-ft tree UP, while placing it in stand, w/o damaging chandelier, and getting it STRAIGHT!!!

This guy grew our (and White House) tree!

4. Keeping cats OUT of the tree

and keeping the dog from retrieving all the "balls" hanging on the branches.

Our tree is now on the deck every holiday.
The fur chidlren are inside.
We have big windows, so it works out.

6. We have a number of soft ornaments (sock monkey Santas, etc.)

I put them on the bottom of the tree so that hopefully if the cats do any batting, those will be safest. I don't know how many times I've yelled, "MORRISSEY!" today!

8. I'd have to say

taking it down and putting all the stuff away. I always have to wait until New Years Eve and then get nice and drunk before I can do it...

9. I would say straining under the tree trying to position it straight up in the stand...

14. The cats. The loose needles. Remembering to water it.

The broken glass ornaments (see "cats"). Getting rid of it. I'd get an artificial tree again, but they get dusty and beat-up-looking from storage.

15. The Lack of Help

from Certain People who demand a real tree and refuse to decorate it, water it, undecorate it or vacuum up the needles.

They know who They are.

16. Having to find and hunt for the ornaments when putting them away.

I'm mom is a HUGE ornament freak/collector, so every year she puts up hundreds of ornaments on the tree. Of course, that's the easy part. Each ornament has it's own little box, so the maddening part is hunting all over the tree to find the correct ornament for each box.

18. Keeping my 2 year old away from the decorations

all the "good" decorations have to go up high so he doesn't decide to see how they look chucked against the wall.
