(53,475 posts)I'd like ham, but expect hot tongue and cold shoulder. Again.

(15,411 posts)I hate ham, and usually get a turducken to go with the largest turkey I can find as one turkey is not enough. But if people actually like ham, I'm thinking it would be easier. We're not doing turducken as it has not been very good the last two years.

(12,132 posts)are very popular around my family at holiday times. I don;t know if anyone else makes 'em but the Honey Baked ones are great. And easy since you just go pick it up.
Turkey is still my favorite but I love to see that ham on the table too.

Although I'm always tempted to do a turkey breast -- when invited to friends' for holiday
dinners, I always make big puppydog eyes and try to communicate by desperate telepathy
just how much I DESIRE that turkey carcass for good turkey soup for a few days. About
the only time I see any benefit in getting wide egg noodles.

(22,845 posts)We had a test batch for dinner tonight. I sauteed diced celery, mushrooms, Granny Smith apple, sweetened dried cranberries and tempeh. Then combined it with some Trader Joe's cornbread stuffing moistened with broth. I baked them at 375 for 55 minutes. They were very good but a bit dry.
I decided they would be better if I covered them with foil for most of the baking time, then took if off for the last 5-10 minutes. I suspect they would cook a little faster, too.
And a turkey breast for the 2 carnivores.
