The gunfire has started.

Why, oh why, must idiots get drunk a shoot their handguns into the air on New Years eve?

I wish each and every one of them could be caught and brought up on charges.

As hazardous as driving to and from a gig on this night can be, I'd actually feel safer than if I was here at home.

Anybody got a good army surplus helmet they can loan me?

A little boy was killed last New Year here in the Atlanta area after some moron shot into the air and the bullet came down into a church and killed the boy. These dumbasses do not realize that whatever goes up eventually comes down.

My family is just about 50/50 White/Hispanic and I went to a New Year's Eve party with the Hispanic side last night. Lots of menudo, bunuelos, and tequila, and not a single gunshot was fired. The white side of my family has often been known to start firing off every gun in the family arsenal just about the time the 10 pm newscast ends. Personally, I think your gross generalization of an entire ethnic group is unwarranted.

The claim is that it can't possibly be racist, because it's the "truth". So you take a claim, which may be true for some and then broad brush it across an entire group. This is the epitome of many racist statements if not racism itself, and is often repeated.

There's plenty of white Americans who think it's a great idea to leave loaded guns laying around with small children with predictable results. Do you think that makes it part of their "tradition"? Judging the whole of a people by the worst actions of their society is ignorant, stupid, and yes, extremely racist whether you admit it or not.

Cheers!

Some of them think that just because they have 1 acre of "land" they can shoot at everything that moves, to include dogs, cats, coyotes, armadillos, and possum, even though it's within city limits, illegal, and they are "endangering others." I know several people who have bullet holes in their fences, barns, and/or homes, and accidental shooting injuries are epidemic around here. We even have personal injury lawyers that specialize in accidental gun injuries and death. Even though Texas has a huge Hispanic population, most of the ones I see that get caught are the non-Hispanic rube gun nuts.

What is this "old country" nonsense? The only people that I have ever seen employ this particular New Year's Eve "tradition" were a bunch of 10th generation red necks that invited themselves to a party I had one year when I was living in Charleston, South Carolina.

they don't shoot guns on New Years......I guess that means they aren't Hispanic, phew, that's a relief...........

Lot's of Guatemalans too, thank God they're not Hispanic either, I'd have to sell my house and move.........

I'll say this, we do have a tradition of tolerance here, in a county of about one million people, of which about 175,000 are Hispanic, we have no elected Republicans, none, not even the Clerk of Court. That being said, if anyone shot off a gun anywhere near a populated area, their ass would be in Jail lickety split.....

...which meant a long cement "bowl" that the local gang members used to like to throw fireworks into because it amplified the sound.

The house I lived in was a 55-year old shithole, a one-story "ranch home" that, as the cliche says, was "held together by termites."

My street was one long procession of neck tattoos, Oakland Raider bling and fist-bumps as these fucking "gangstas" (most of which still lived with mom and dad) would gather in the street and light just about anything with a fuse. I used to freak the fuck out during dry spells when I'd see one of their bottle rockets go up in the air, imagining it landing on my roof and torching the place in seconds.

I now live about three miles away, in the same city, but it's a much better neighborhood and I don;t think I heard ANY fireworks last night. In the old neighborhood, when I used to have to call the cops, they would drive over and say "Well, this IS a bad neighborhood."
