Considering Changing Web-Site Provider

I currently have a Small Business Website that I host through Yahoo.
Basically it was first in geocities, that I archived and turned in to a small business site.

I am wondering what my other options are. I know how to build pages, so I pretty much just use them for storage and other things.

So, just wondering what other places I can host a site in, that is at least somewhat of a leftward tilt.
I've had this thing for a while, and I am also going to have to consider ease of transition.

I've checked possibilities, but I am not sure where they lean.

1. I use GoDaddy for mine (yes, I know about the safari hunt). It works well.

Changing providers is a royal pain in the ass. Have some Preparation-H handy when you do it.

2. I'm Not Happy with GoDaddy

Particularly when they tried to pull off that support SOPA.
So they were automatically disqualified from my list of possibilities.

Though yes, I am prepared with the Prep-H.

4. I've got like 80 domains and web hosting there. The price is good. It's a tough call.

I don't know of another hosting service with the pricing deals they have or the tech support they have (24x7). You don't get to speak to the DD-cup chick in the ads, but they at least deal with your problems at any hour on any day. Yeah, the CEO is a dipshit. What company doesn't have that problem? And they weren't alone with the SOPA thing. Moving domains would be a major pain in the ass (cue Prep-H commercial) and I'm happy with the service. I don't think the CEO's behavior is representative of the company as a whole.

5. I guess...

I was just hoping I could bypass them and looking for other options.
Thanks though.

7. Well I have to add that they've also got the best tech support other than Kohler.

6. Thanks, checking them out now.

Hrm, actually I don't think that is what I had in mind.
Actual hosting using my own domain name is what I meant. Although, they did send me to their friend site, hover.

So I'll check them out too.
Thank you!

8. The laughing squid offers a nice sublet with rackspace.

You register your actual domain name elsewhere.

My "Who needs enemies when you've got friends like hunter!" websites are on godaddy for reasons similar to HopeHoops. Clients see a superbowl ad or something, and yes it's probably about boobies but I don't ask, and the next thing I'm thinking as a webmaster is (well, after the usual "THIS JOB SUCKS CHOLLA CACTUS COCKS IN HELL!") is "golly gee with these discounts I could be posting my own crap for almost free!"

This inspiration struck me one day photobucket decided to delete a very mildly naughty photo that godaddy would have let pass and never looked twice at no matter how many people complained.

I have until 2013 to decide if this was a good decision. Maybe the world will end before that.

9. Try Fatcow - Been using them for ten years

They say that their servers are either wind or solar powered.

Went through some outages three years ago, but they've been really good and their support staff is US based.

Pretty good rates as well. Especially if you catch them on a promotion.

link is http://www.fatcow.com

Their site is amoosing.
