(12,253 posts)I could eat with every meal. Don't care for chicory coffee myself. You are fueled for the day and I bet it was some good!

(41,959 posts)Since I grew up down here I'm way over the drinking thing. We are hearing great local music and eating great food. Today we are going to the Carousel bar at The Monteleone and to The Museum of the Cocktail. I've been on a book tour so have kept fairly healthy so far.

(78,249 posts)Highly recommended. One of the last independent hotels out there. Located just inside the Quarter but just a couple of blocks down from Canal. Also, the room service is actually quite tasty!

Man, I missed out on so much the weekend I was in New Orleans...and here we thought we had hit every tourist spot! I wanna go back when I have more time and money.

(41,959 posts)The "Halfway to St. Patrick's Day" parade the other day. Mardi Gras is just the big version of every day. Right now folks are gearing up for Halloween, which is some serious business in these parts.

(41,959 posts)I love me a muffuletta but if I did that I couldn't do the char broiled oysters for dinner. And I can't miss that.
Diet time when I get home!

A nice long walk. Read the paper. Followed by a long, decadent breakfast.
Always wanted to live there. I've only managed visits.

(879 posts)Spent the day going through things at Grandmother's house while hubby sat with mother. It has been too hot and we need to get it ready for sale. It seemed so final I have not been wanting to do it.

(41,959 posts)The name utterly escapes me but it's on Barracks near Decatur and is clearly a local favorite. New Orleans has a huge Italian population and the combination of Gulf Shrimp and excellent pasta made me a happy nolabear.
In other typical NOLA news, something broke and we are under a boil water order. Wish I'd known before I had a big glass with the bowl of gumbo I squeezed in there this afternoon. Ah well, laissez les Bon temps roullez!

I miss NOLA. NE OK is just not the same...
PS. I don't really hate you.
PSS.. are you eating in the French Quarter, the Bywater, the Marigny...where?
Time to make more jambalya or red beans and rice...sigh.

(41,959 posts)We stayed a couple days with friends and boated up the Pascagoula River to one of the many places you can dock and eat outside on the water. Shrimp Po Boys...yum.
Yeah, even my pescetarian husband was a happy camper.
