1. Wall-E is very cute.

You know, a few tears and then a happy ending.

4. It's more social commentary. Be prepared for very limited dialogue, though.

"E-vaaa!"
"Wall-EEEE!"

5. Ummm... I think so.

I hope so. As a SciFi fan it can be hard for me to judge just how turned off people will be, but it's a 2 track romance with a little chase thriller and a sprinkle of cloak and dagger on top, bookended with post apocalypse. Just please be aware that this is carried out by a pair of (cute animated) robots and goes to and from a giant space ship.

Oh and the end credits are a really cute recapitulation of art history from cave through 8bit. Really cute and art history geeky.

stand it. I don't like fantasy either.

10. Yeah but I had a crush on Michael J. Fox and it was more of an adventure drama.

The science fiction part was minimal. Took me 20 years to watch star wars - which I did like because of Harrison Ford. But I've never seen the Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi or any of the others. Never saw E.T., Lord of the Rings, etc.

11. I think Time travel was the main plot point of the movie.

You do like Science Fiction. Nerd.

13. I don't know

I think saying "I don't like science fiction" is like saying "I don't like comedy."

There is such a huge variety that there has to be something you'll like.

I don't know if you'll like Wall-E though.

16. I adore Sci Fi, but Wall-E was not Sci-Fi.

You'll enjoy it. If I've got a correct read on you from DU? It's cute and fun, not Sci Fi at all. It's more an ET kind of knock off.

18. Wall-E is absolutely Sci-Fi, so is ET.

Science fiction film is a film genre that uses science fiction: speculative, science-based depictions of phenomena that are not necessarily accepted by mainstream science, such as extraterrestrial life forms, alien worlds, extrasensory perception, and time travel, often along with futuristic elements such as spacecraft, robots, cyborgs, interstellar space travel or other technologies.

Science fiction films have often been used to focus on political or social issues, and to explore philosophical issues like the human condition. In many cases, tropes derived from written science fiction may be used by filmmakers ignorant of or at best indifferent to the standards of scientific plausibility and plot logic to which written science fiction is traditionally held.

19. Not in the way she meant though.

It's not epic, it's not an urban clultish sensation, It was just cute and light. Mild fun, with a heartstrings thrumming plot.

I still stand my my statement. She'd enjoy it.

28. Ah, well.

One song from the musical is very important in the show. The show has a very similar feel in that regard, so liking an upbeat, fast-paced storyline like "Hello, Dolly!" would bode well for liking "Wall-E."

There's a nice critique of consumerism as well in "Wall-E." I highly recommend it.

for my hand held disk player. So I didn't get to watch it last night. I will definitely put wall-e on my list of dvds to see.
