Sun Sep 30, 2012, 11:43 PM

I found a baby kitten in my driveway this afternoon, about 4 weeks old.

It is little boy, a brown tabby.

The poor thing was screaming for mama.

The mother cat never came back, so I brought the kitten in the house.

I fed it and will take it to a friend who has a female cat with kittens.

The kitten is sleeping, seems very tame.

We have a fenced in yard, so a mother cat had to leave it.

I may keep it after it gets a little older, now it needs a mother cat.

It was windy outside today, so I will name it Windy.

3. We had a cool front blow in over the weekend so I had the window open.

I will take him to his new home tomorrow morning, he will be hungry.

I hope Mama kitty takes him in.

2. so glad you found Windy... he's a lucky little fella

If your friend's momma cat won't take him in, there are plenty of online resources (and your vet) who can help you nurse this little guy.

Thank you

4. He has little teeth coming in.

I have feed baby kittens before with a bottle, he would be better off with other kittens.

He is so tame, and calm.

Maybe I will name him Mystery Cat.

I could say look what the wind blew in.

I'm glad you have a friend whose cat can help care for it. I hope the tiny tabby's mother is okay.

Once I was walking my dog in the unimproved reaches of the park near here. We found a baby ground squirrel that had some blood coming from its nostrils, and it seemed stunned. An adult squirrel was ~150' from there, pacing around on top of a pile of tree trimmings, chattering in seeming distress. I thought a hawk might have picked up the baby and dropped it from the air. I put it next to the brush pile so it could at least be with its mother in a hidden nest, and she wouldn't have to run across an open area to tend to her baby.

8. Damn. That's sad, but I'm glad you took him in. And yes, a nursing mother is best.

Dropper feeding is possible, but not as successful as a nursing mother. And "Windy" is a cute name. My attitude on such things is that if a critter seeks you out, you're the one it has chosen. Cuddles all around.

9. Good news.

The mother cat has adopted the kitten, no problem.

The kittens are almost the same age, and there was only two of them.

The little kitten was well fed by it's mother so a night without food didn't hurt it.

I bought some extra cat food for the mother, she has a extra mouth to feed now.

All is well with little Windy, he is fine.

I don't know what happened to his mother, maybe she was moving kittens.

Windy has big paws, and was very tame and calm.

That is something for a feral kitten.

11. I will if no one else takes him.

I haven't had a kitten in a long time.

He was just learning to walk, the older cats didn't like him.

I was getting cat looks.

14. Update on little Windy.

He is doing fine with his new family.

He can walk a little, the younger two kittens are about a week younger.

Mama cat has really accepted little Windy, good mama.

I have seen a female cat in the yard today, looking around.

I don't know if it is little Windy's mother.

It will be at least two months before I will bring the kitten home.

He needs to play with the other kittens, I have only grown cats.

Windy's new mother is a stray also, she had kittens in my friends shed.

She will have a trip to the Vet for a little operation, no more kittens.

18. Yippee!!! Another responsible Texan pet person!

Spay/neuter! Bless your heart for arranging that "trip to the vet for a little operation". Appreciate your efforts!

Glad little Windy is doing so well, too!

19. He is doing fine.

Windy is just a little bigger but not much.

He is doing the funny kitten walk, using his tail for balance.

I think Mama cat is confused.

One baby is walking but not the other ones.

Windy can't get out of the box, so he will be safe.
