2. The toughest part of that remains...

...he was successfully kicking his demons and turning a corner into a mighty, "who knows what could have happened" area of his career. Sure, he was influenced by Jimi and played Hendrix tunes, but I always felt that he had a similar gift and was in the process of seeing where it would take him.

The closing track on the final album..."Riviera Paradise"...was pretty unexpected at the time, because it showed his blues like and a Roy Buchanan edge to his playing, but also the influence of "finesse" players like Kenny Burrell, just these terrifying jazz guys who could blow ANY hardcore rocker off the stage.

So just like Jimi, I mourn the music I can listen to right now, but feel a deeper loss in the music that never got out.

3. I saw him play the night he died.

I was at Alpine Valley that night and I saw him play in the hours before he passed from us. His passing was a huge loss to the music community and to the world. He was a gifted artist who created a very real legacy in spite of his personal issues. We lost him too soon.

4. RIP Strevie.

I'll never forget the morning I heard the news. Walked into the shop and turned on the radio, and there it was. Couldn't believe what I was hearing.

A true Blues Master. Gone much too soon, but he left a legacy of outstanding music that has and will continue to inspire, motivate, and enthrall.
