It had the same control scheme as the Google hurdles. Two run buttons and an action button.

Back then as a teenager my hands were fast as fuck and I did very good at it.

This thing, halfway through my second try and I had to stop due to hand cramps.

I spent my Friday and Saturday evenings relaxing in the student union. In addition to bowling, there were pool tables and pinball machines. I had my favorite pinball machines that I would play constantly.

I remember seeing a Pong machine for the first time and watched others play it. I might have played it myself maybe once or twice, but for me the real fun was pinball! A game was 10 cents, or 3 for a quarter.

Then I "discovered" poker when a few of us started getting together in the dorm on Fridays for a little 5-card draw, 5- and 7-card stud, low hole, etc., and pinball took a back seat.

I usually left it with 15 or more credits still on it.

1980.

There was a bar in town where I could go and spend several hours playing pinball. If I was careful with my playing I could rack up a half-dozen games or so and play for some time. During happy hour, pitchers of beer were $2.

I'd grab two pitchers (not at the same time!) and play pinball with four quarters: the whole evening cost me $5.

(I'd walk back to my apartment)

There was another bar that was "home" to one hard-core pinball player. I and a friend went to this bar and to grab a pitcher. We sat at at a table and watched this guy playing--he was very dramatic with the moves, almost like ballet--and once it appeared he finished the game as he stepped back and walked over to the bar to grab a beer. My friend and I got up and walked over to the machine and put a quarter in as we wanted to play. The guy came back pissed because he was still playing! He'd only played one ball! Hell, we didn't know! It looked like he had finished playing.

We learned then the "local" (bar) rules: that that machine was "his," even if it meant "taking a break" (and taking his time) between balls.

We didn't go to that bar much...
