Could it be Maxine Fortenberry that is the ringleader that is killing vamps & shifters? I mean that description pretty much described her although to be fair we have never seen her smoke, but then again I've known people to pick up the habit under stress. I could see Maxine smoking down Newp Light 100s.

It was obvious these haters would go after vampires since they are out in the open. But Sam & Luna brought up a very good argument - who knows about shifters? Shifters are not out in the public and the few people who are aware of them (outside of Vampires) are just Jason & Andy (from season #2 when they were fighting the Maenad) and Maxine Fortenberry, who took care of Sam's brother Tommy for over a year. I'm guessing that during that year Maxine was aware that Sam and Tommy were shifters.

Plus the end of season #3 we saw Maxine buying a gun at the same store that was run by the Hater that Sam killed with a crossbow. Since Maxine has diarrhea of the mouth I wouldn't be shocked if she bemoaned about Jessica to the store owner although at the end of season #3 she wouldn't have been aware of the shifters at that time (Tommy didn't move in with Maxine until sometime after season #3 and was with her until middle of season #4 which was about 13 months). Tommy became the replacement son for her lost Hoyt but in the end he was murdered and I'm sure she blames Sam for that. I'm also suspecting that Tommy probably told Maxine not only that he was a shifter (since he did force shift on the full moon) but that Sam was friendly with other shifters in the area. AND....she may have found out that her natural gas rights were sold out from underneath her so she's got that beef against the shifters too (Tommy did it skinwalking as Maxine).

I'm thinking that Maxine is one of the ringleaders and I'm guessing she brought Bud Dearborn into the circle. I've read some boards where Bud's girlfriend is also a part of the circle and that Bud wasn't really getting busy in a hottub with that girlfriend but just trying to get rid of Andy, since Bud knows Andy is friendly with shifter Sam. I'm wondering if we'll see that perky ex-girlfriend that Hoyt dated in season #3 - she seemed awfully buddy buddy with Maxine.

What do you folks think?

as well. The Cheetos sold it for me. I forgot about perky girl but now that you mention her I am sure she would be happy to help rid the world of them what took her Hoyt.

A valid point was brought up by a poster on another board. Wouldn't Sam have recognized Maxine's smell? Maybe the Menthols might have thrown him off but perhaps that ex-girlfriend was the ring leader. As far as I know Sam has never met Summer (I think that's her name) so he would not have recognized her smell. Sam said the person had a bad diet and Summer had mentioned about not wanting to get fat like her mamma until after she had a few kids. I know when I was that age I had a shitty diet but because of my age and strong metabolism I was able to maintain it. But over a year who knows - Summer may have packed on the pounds.
