Cuba won 3 gold medals and South Korea also won a gold medal. Cuba is the only team that won a medal all 5 olympics, USA only won for 3 of the olympics. Many of the great MLB player are from outside the USA and many hispanic countrics

Softball has only been on 4 olympics with the women winning 3 gold but last olympics it was Japan that won.

As a sport, it's not that popular save for North America, a few Carribean nationss and Japan and Chinese Taipei. Secondly, infrastructure. London would have had to had built baseball and softball venues, and then they'd be stuck wiith them after the games. Thirdly, I think the doping scandals plaguing Major Leauge Baseball were kind of the final nail in the coffin.
