Bands whose lack of fame keeps them out of the Hall of Fame

Who are some of your favorite bands that meet all the criteria for being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, except for the pesky detail that they weren't famous?

I nominate Husker Du. Lots of bands turned to punk because they lacked musical talent. Husker Du kicked ass, but they came along at the wrong time. I defy anyone to watch this clip and tell me it's not better than most of the shlock that's in the HOF.

Who are your nominees?

Everyone who ever heard them was influenced by their genius. Part modernist classicists, part modern primitivists, experimental and improvisational in the extreme. The greatest band known by so few people.

I think alot of bands have been inspired by what this band has done but they were never very mainstream. And since we can't get any of the mainstream Prog Rock bands in there like Yes, Moody Blues, Jethro Tull, and Rush. I highly doubt that the more innovated like King Crimson will get in there.

They were the middle act.

Opening act: Robin Trower, former lead guitarist for Procul Harum.

Middle act: King Crimson

Headliner: Ten Years After with Alvin Lee, the world's fastest-fingered guitarist

Those were the days!!

anyone who produced such a work into the Hall, if indeed the RnR Hall of Fame was about art instead of mostly being about money.

Captain Beefheart was a genius if anyone working in RnR could be said to be a genius.

as the famous UK DJ John Peel used to say.
The Fall has had an aggressive sound for a long time and is always lyrically interesting.
Their many live albums are excellent too - a great live band.

Most classic punk bands are eligible; the criterion is 25 years after your first release.
