one Christmas shopping season I spent hours upon end shopping out a short-season tomato variety (seed) for my aunt who lives in northern Montana.

After all the shopping hours and all the waiting for it to get here, it finally arrived.

It's a decade later and the pack of tomatoes still sits in my Christmas card box. I never sent it and now it's too old to send but I can't throw it away, either.

Pitiful.
