Think if it were HUMID! turtlerescue1 Jun 2012 #1
Usually, when it's upper 90's-low 100's here, we have single-digit humidity. It's BEAUTIFUL!!! MiddleFingerMom Jun 2012 #2

When it gets to be 106 and over, it can be kinda stifing (Tucson usually tops out
at 106-108 -- Phoenix is usually about 10 degrees hotter).
.
We're getting into/near our rainy season (monsoon), which means it's hot AND
humid (today was up to 103 with 46% humidity... which isn't very moist for
most of you all, but we start sweltering at about 18%).
.
Our storms are usually short-lived (much less than an hour before cloudless
sunshine again), POWERFUL, and beautiful (it really is not uncommon here for
people to go outside and dance in the rain and if you enjoy lightning -- I DO,
I DO --there are few better places for frequency, intensity and diversity).
.
In high humidity areas, I used to be constantly and seriously embarrassed by
my sweat-soaked clothing. Here, the low humidity means sweat dries quickly...
if not immediately.
.
Yeah, I'll take a dry heat anyday!!!

After several days of solid rain (TS Debby) with the AC running to reduce the humidity the temperature in the house was down below 70 even though the thermostat was set at 76 and I kept kicking it up to 78 or 80.

Here is the accumulated rainfall for our area - we're located about where the 14" mark is:

It wasn't until the sun came out for several hours and the house go up to about 82 this afternoon I realized the heat was still on.

The humidity is down to about 70% tonight after days over 90%.

I worked in Nawlins for a couple of years in the '80s. Never had the rain you people are having though.

We've been on the edge of the severe drought zone. East of us and down into the peninsula they've had a severe so bad some of the lakes are drying up and wells are going dry. I hope some of the rain got up into Georgia - they need it really bad.

The last time we had rain like this was when TS Fay came through in 2008. Flooded the Obama HQ, we had water running over the roads where I'd never seen it before. But that year had not been a drought year so it didn't take much to fill the lakes and streams to overflowing. TS Debby didn't even fill the lakes, just poured water down faster than the system could carry it off.

The thing about dry heat is it never varies. Supposed to be 111 today after 110 yesterday.
