Forgive me is this is too trivial here.
I bought some of these last year at Costco. I love them. They are the most comfortable I have ever owned.
I wanted to buy more but cannot find the store, the manufacturer, or anything but ebay and craigslist stuff.
What happened to them. I know they were made in Oregon and that surgeons and nurses swear by them.
Anyone know anything about them, particularly where I could buy them.
Thanks and just ignore if too silly a topic. I just know DUers are smart and resourceful.

(11,121 posts)I googled and didn't get that one. Some that listed Pothia on their front page but with no product to order.
I still wonder what happened to the company.

(11,121 posts)About 15 pair available at different ebay sites. None of them my size. Sigh.
Thanks for the link.

(6,011 posts)but Pothia is not included on their more recent list, so it may have gone out of business.
I'm pretty sure this guy from that store would be able to tell you-

(1 post)Hello "Jakes Progress",
I know this is an old post, but only recently did I find the strength to google my company...or as I used to refer to it "my baby". I was very touched to see your post. I founded POTHIA in 1999...from design & development to sales & marketing to helping customers lace up their shoes, I put everything I had...and then some...into my business. Unfortunately, in Aug 2011, I was forced to make the excruciating decision to pull the plug on my own child. I can blame banks and politicians all day long, but that would be counter productive, so we just move forward and find new paths. Not familiar with DU, but opened account only to write and say THANK YOU for your kind words about my shoes...it was GREAT seeing what you wrote and VERY appreciated!! Happy New Year!!! Marietta

(1 post)Marietta,
I too joined DU to be able to respond here.
I'm truly sorry to hear about POTHIA going out of business. My wife and I started wearing them in the 2000-ish timeframe and I've often recommended them to folks in the culinary and medical fields; you know, people who spend a lot of time on their feet. I guess I can take some comfort in knowing I've got three brand-new pairs sitting in my closet for when the ones I am currently wearing get tired...
Best of luck in 2013 and sincerely hope to see POTHIA make a comeback!

(1 post)Really sorry to hear that.
I found your shoes so comfortable so I recommended to everyone. I even send couple of pairs to my home country. I have six toes and the last one is 2 inches away from the fifth so I need wide shoes. I though I could finally found the right shoes. but you are out of business.
Right price and very comfortable it is hard to find something like this. Even after 2 years the shoes I bought are still in good shape with a lot of use. I was looking to buy some more but couldn't find the store online. Now I see why.
Please please come back again with those shoes. God help

(1 post)So sorry to hear you closed. That explains my bad luck locating more - I've been looking to buy another pair of Pothia shoes for a couple of years now. I picked them up at Costco about 4 years ago while I was working security, and I know a few other people who love theirs too. Have you ever considered restarting Pothia? I, for one, would definitely be interested if you did a Kickstarter or something like that.

(1 post)If only I had known you were going to go away! I also bought my Pothia shoes at Costco, and they lasted two years. They were by far the best shoes I had ever had and I've been looking for them ever since. Every time I go to Costco I check the "Road shows" to see if Pothia is coming back. I wish I had bought 6 pairs that day. I must have gotten them right before you folded. I'm so sorry, and wish your company could have succeeded. I told everybody about what great shoes they were.

(1 post)I created a DU account solely to reply to this thread! I have wondered what happened to this brand of shoe I love so much! I was looking for a new pair of shoes for my husband who is on his feet as a working executive chef. I have used these shoes for many years working in a kitchen and wanted to share the love, sadly I can't do this. I am seriously thinking about buying a pair from ebay just so he can have a pair (or maybe a pair for me as well!).
These are flat out, simply THE BEST work shoes EVER! I hope you can restart your business. When I bought my first pair, I was told they were from Sweden--I had no idea they were from the US!
Love them, miss them!
