i'll be a godfather in a baptism Sunday

What do I do? I tend to screw up in social situations so I need advice. Do I pour water on the kid? Someone told me I simply hold the kid and the priest does it. Has anyone here been a Godfather?

But who will hold the child? The godmother or me? Marzupialis Jun 2012 #3
Again, in my experience, it's usually the child's mother or father. n/t geardaddy Jun 2012 #4

I'll be fine. That's why I never want to be anyone's Best Man in a wedding.

Or will both of us grab an arm and a leg each or something?

the Mother holds the baby and when the godparents are asked question(s) the answer is either "yes" or "I will".

I am godmother to my 30 year old niece. I was raised catholic and I had to supply a note from my pastor that I was a member in good standing at the parish. I don't attend church, but I went to the parish I grew up in & explained I had just moved back to town after College (didn't outright lie, just extended the truth). I got the noted.

The godfather was of a different christian faith. He brought a letter that expounded upon what a good man of faith he was. it put to shame my note of attendance.

make it kiss your ring, and have your goons put a horse head in its crib.
