I'm taking my cat to the vet today. Should I mention this?

Mischief has always been kinda laid back and a lap cat. For the past few weeks, he's started kneading for several minutes at a time somewhat vigorously and his back legs kinda twitch while he does it. Then he jumps down and grooms his...um...private areas.

I'm not an expert on cat behavior, but I'm fairly certain he is getting an inordinate amount of pleasure from this. (I'm trying to be delicate here).

Is this something I should bring up with my vet or is this just random cat behavior?

Perhaps a sex therapist would be more appropriate than a vet. HopeHoops Jun 2012 #1
I would mention any significant behavior change during the checkup - can't hurt petronius Jun 2012 #2

Our male cat went through a bit of a pervy period in his younger years, but ours manifested more as peeping tom. And trust me, looking over to see your cat watching you - hind legs splayed out with a little tiny cat-boner - is a major interruptus...

4 males. 1 female.

It was the first order of business (along with shots and deworming...ect).

I thought I might have to get out my brochures and give my "lecture"!!! I love it when I find other animal lovers who understand how important spay/neuter is!

Thank you for being a very responsible pet owner! Best of luck with his (ummmm)...problem. You know, we Democrats, have to be careful with the language we use for body parts!!!! LOL

It's funny and weird. Usually he held a rug when he did it but a couple times he got a roll of paper towels and seemed to be mating with it.
He was neutered when he was a few months old, then didn't start this funny stuff until he was seven or eight I think. I haven't seen him do it lately but he's about 14 so he's slowed down some.

Mention it to the doc but it's probably just cat weirdness.
