Garfield the obese cat needs a new home!
Janet Ciminelli of North Shore Animal League of America holds Garfield in Long Island, New York on June 4, 2012. Garfield, the 40lb feline, has claimed the dubious title of world's fattest cat. The obese cat was brought into the shelter after his owner sadly passed away. Staff have put Garfield on a no dry food diet in hopes he can lose 15 to 20lbs and are looking for a new owner who is committed to helping him become healthy and active. 3. I took my dog to the vet for her 1st check up, about a month after........

I had adopted her from the pound. We weighed her at the front desk, and I praised her for gaining 2 lbs. and was now tipping the scale at 8.5 lbs. We sat down waiting our turn, when a woman came in, weighed her cat, who came in at 16 lbs. and I was crestfallen.

5. Aww, that is sad. I don't think he's a very happy cat.
|
Hope he slims down and finds a loving forever home that watches his weight.

6. One of our kitties was porking up a few years ago. The "no dry food" thing worked wonders.

8. My dog wound up being rather husky for his breed, but he never looked like that.
|
I feel bad for the cat, it must be hard for him to move or do normal cat activities. I hope he can lose the weight. This is why I'm glad that the Guinness people stopped recognizing world's fattest ___ categories.
It also makes me appreciate my cat's natural scrawniness as she doesn't gain weight no matter how frequently she is fed. Apparently being terrified of everything other than heat, the sound of canned cat food being opened or horizontal humans has a benefit. |
