Always running off with some floozy to accept someone's fealty, while leaving his poor mother to make all the hard choices.

Seriously there is a trend that you will notice if you read the books...Cait Stark is the primary motivator of just about every bad thing that happens in Westeros because she's rash and stupid. If she'd not accused Tyrion without proof of Bran's attempted murder or trusted Petyr Baylish when everybody knows Littlefinger is not trustworthy. If she had gone to Pyke herself. If she...well most of that is in the future of the TV series.

If Cait Stark was more thoughtful and less impetuous, then she'd still be Lady of the North, her sons safely at home, her husband alive and Hand of the King, Cersei deposed, Joffrey not on the Iron Throne, Theon not murdering her loyal subjects.

Cait Stark is the harbinger of evil. It becomes more apparent in time.

Actually I give Martin a lot of credit for having women characters who are as warmongering as the men. Not a step up, per se, but a step away from stereotype.
