Tom Batiuk, creator of Funky Winkerbean is not afraid to tackle any subject. These past 7 days he has done a series on a same-sex couple - 2 boys, who want to attend their high school prom. Of course the girl manning the prom ticket table sold them a ticket but Batiuk managed to put the one antagonist of the strip nearby, Becky's Mom (I don't know her name, she's just Becky's mom - although Becky has graduated and now is the band director of the school). Becky is one of those hoity toity mothers who thinks she knows best for everybody and has trouble minding her own business. So Becky's Mom is raising a stink about it. The strip should turn out well - in the end, everytime Becky's Mom throws a hissy fit she usually is the one that ends up eating crow.
