There's a Administrative Professionals day and a Bosses Day - what about the rest of us??

Our company has like 30 bosses, 10 Administrative Professionals, and then like 100 of us who aren't bosses and aren't Administrative Professionals. I understand the Administrative Professionals celebrating their bosses and kissing their asses, that's what business is all about, then the bosses celebrating the Administrative Professionals by acting like they care and buying them a $10 starbucks gift card, but the rest of us have boss we have to celebrate without them celebrating us in return. Everyone has a boss but not everyone is an Administrative Professional, we're just the average worker. Ok, rant finished.

1. When in real estate I had an annual Team Day. By ballot the team decided what to do on that day.

It was a paid day off and we would bring in temp staff to oversee the operation.

One year we had a golfing outing. One a day out on a yacht. One a trip to Vancouver Island to go fishing. Barbeques, picnics, concerts, pub crawls. It was great.

2. Show up in a tie die shirt, bermuda shorts, and sandals. Claim it's "Reformed Hippie Day".

I'm unconvinced.

8. I suppose.

The whole "showing up to work" thing makes a fairly compelling argument on it's own merits.

5. Be glad you don't have to deal

with any of those people.

All that Boss and Admin Day is a crock.

9. I do have to cause I have a boss.....that's the trick

everyone has a boss, but the bosses only have to recognize the Administrative Professionals.

How did this system get so screwed up like everything else out there?!?!

7. People observe Bosses Day? Why?

I guess I worked for too many jerkoffs to see the point in that.

10. we'd get lunch at the fanciest restaurant in town for administrative professionals day

i worked at a law firm in my late teens (back when it was still called secretaries day) and it was the one time of year we were treated to a meal. it was me and four late middle aged women, so i was the only one sober that afternoon.
