Obama's Assassinations of U.S. Citizens Largely Ignored at Brennan CIA Hearing

President Obama's nominee to run the CIA, John Brennan, forcefully defended Obama's counterterrorism policies, including the increase use of armed drones and the targeted killings of American citizens during his confirmation hearing Thursday. "None of the central questions that should have been asked of John Brennan were asked in an effective way," says Jeremy Scahill, author of the forthcoming book "Dirty Wars." "In the cases where people like Sen. Angus King or Sen. Ron Wyden would ask a real question, for instance, about whether or not the CIA has the right to kill U.S. citizens on U.S. soil. The questions were very good -- Brennan would then offer up a non-answer. Then there would be almost a no follow-up." Scahill went on to say, " served for more than four years as the assassination czar, and it basically looked like they're discussing purchasing a used car on Capitol hill. And it was total kabuki oversight. And that's a devastating commentary on where things stand.

5. I completely agree with that.

We should have a law that says the President can't assassinate anyone unless they join al Qaeda and declare war on The USA.

One problem is the President is claiming broad authority to assassinate US citizens based on things they have said in the past and without presenting any evidence. Also this authority extends to the United States.

So you see there is nothing in the secret policy that limits it to al qaeda people. It could be anybody, anywhere.

3. It was TWO people!

One would think this was a daily occurence.

Keep in mind this is the same government who wants to kill food stamps and health insurance. The Republican part of it anyway.

How many deaths that will result is not being discussed.

How about some perspective here?

4. Mostly because those on the committee is stuck in a Benghazi rut and dont know how to get out.

Besides this, the information probably should not be released on most of the strikes. I agree on if an American citizen joins with al-Qaeda they have given up rights.

7. Our so-called "Democrats" have been in for this sh!t since BEFORE 9/11.

To call them an "opposition" Party is one sick joke, indeed. THEY WANT THIS.
