Boss lady Michelle Rhee. Wonder who gave her all this power over public schools? Video This Week.

This video of course shows basically another puffy interview with no really hard questions. Yes, Georgie sort of questioned her on her style and on firing that principal on video. But nothing really tough.

Only teachers get the really tough stuff.

I notice she speaks in a way that indicates she thinks she has the power to work her agenda. No Democratic leader has questioned her or spoken out about attitude toward public school teachers.

There's more in a great article about her in Esquire recently.

Esquire writes about Michelle Rhee and the empire she built.

Standardized testing is a crack cocaine of education. It is rife with problems. It is also a multimillion industry without which might not exist, among other things, The Washington Post. A reliance on standardized testing as a metric for progress is generally a reliable "tell" that "reform" has ended and that the grift has begun. A reliance on standardized testing as a metric for progress and, it should be said, as a Procrustean scoreboard to judge whether a teacher, an administrator, or a school system are doing their jobs properly almost guarantees that some finagling with the numbers will take place. It is a sub rosa way to install a corporate model on public education and, since the corporate model for everything in this country right now is a moral and ethical quagmire, it encourages cheating on a massive scale. Hence, the very real possibility that the empire built by Michelle Rhee, tough-talking "reformer," may be built upon a wilderness of crib sheets.

.."The current model for education "reform" in this country a corporate model with transparency problems and severely decreased political accountability is broken. Handing over "our" schools to hedge-fund managers, and to the people like Michelle Rhee who volunteer as well-remunerated middle managers, privatizes public education without having the basic cojones to admit that it's happening. This is not the way it's supposed to work.

5. Follow the money.

Michelle doesn't do interviews with media not receiving money from the billionaire lords a.k.a Gates, Waltons, Bloomberg, Broad and DeVos, just to the name the high rollers. Google up ABC News and the Gates Foundation. Then try PBS and the Gates Foundation and so on and so on and you'll get the picture. Rhee waltzes into these puff interviews on a carpet of money. They're just commercial promotions really. Considering that she has almost no teaching experience and absolutely no bonafides as an educational specialist, training as a school administrator or researcher, she wouldn't even begin to be able to field tough interview questions on a subject to which she brings only talking points, false data, logical fallacies and aggression. The billionaire lords have spent millions creating this monster, and she is too valuable a commodity to have discredited.

7. Go to ...

PBS Frontline. They did a pretty good piece on her "The Education of Michelle Rhee". I am so sick of these education deformers. They are nothing but a group of hustlers promising a new cure all that is nothing but snake oil. Education professional (teachers) are starting to push back, but the politicians are still under the spell.

8. I wonder why they don't ask her where the agencies money comes from...

why somebody whose cronies have a history of cheating gets to speak for public education.
