Diane Rehm dredges up the 2000 election and The Gore's marriage in 1-on-1 interview!

... and y'know- i ALWAYS held Diane in such high regard as, at the very least, a journalist who wouldn't stoop to such tabloid questions and quite the opposite- would call you out for posing such garbage.

Guess I was wrong. My bad. I'm done, Diane. Goodbye.

1. I don't know what she asked but

I can't see a problem with asking about the 2000 election.

5. "Had you won that election, do you believe you and your wife, Tipper Gore, would have stayed...

together?"....

there you go- the last question I'll ever hear from her.

7. I don't think that is an unreasonable question. Devastating events like the 2000 election results

can have a negative effect on relationships. It is a fair question and I would guess Al Gore has asked it of himself and was not put off by it.

11. They divorced in June of 2010. They'd have stayed together through TWO Gore admins...

What answer did she expect?

"Well, OF COARSE i would never have divorced Tipper because it would be a stain on the office!"????

13. I suspect she did not "expect" any particular answer. That is why she asked the question.

And the time period is somewhat irrelevant. There can be a problem with a relationship which drags on for years before it ends in divorce.

18. His answer was excellent and pointed.

He said he wasn't going there, but that he has a wonderful relationship with Tipper and the children. It was an amicable separation and there is no animosity. They all get together on some holidays, He's happy, Tipper's happy. That's all.

8. Honestly it depends on ground rules

I can see where that is a question people would be curious about. I would like a more hard hitting interview myself.

6. Both topics would sit there like the proverbial "elephant in the room" if she didn't ask about them.

imo. Anyway a caller would likely ask. Or should she screen out difficult calls like right wing radio hosts do?

2. i gave up on her 3-4 years ago.

she rarely challenged any of her quests when it came to what they said. she just goes through the motions.

4. Eye of the beholder I guess because I think she does a good interview.

My main problem with her now is her voice. It is hard to listen to her sometimes.

3. Really? Why should she not bring up these topics?

It would be kind of weird if she didn't don't you think? They are both major events in the life of Al Gore. I didn't hear the interview, but I would be surprised if she did it in an ungracious or rude way. If she did that it was wrong of her, but just the fact of bring up these two events - no that is not a reason for criticizing her, imo.

9. So, you're going to throw out the rest of the hour and everyone else...

she will ever interview over two questions you don't like?

If those reflect your standards for interviewing, not much you'll ever be listening to.

17. One more time:

Al Gore lost the PRESIDENCY, he did not lose the election.
