Roger Hedgecock responds to Newtown, CT tragedy: Blames liberals, "political correctness"

Guns don't kill people, but signs that say "gun free zone" do kill people.

On Dec. 17, 2012, Roger Hedgecock, conservative talk radio host and former mayor of San Diego, California, responded to the Newtown, CT shooting tragedy that killed 20 children and 6 adults by blaming "liberals", political correctness, and added a comparison of President Obama to Hitler.

"Funny how all of these school massacres occur...in blue states."

"I am so tired of this politically correct society, it is producing these killers. I want to say that as clearly as I can. I think this politically correct society, after 50, 60 years of this stuff, is producing these killers. It is the product of political correctness."

On the Newtown, CT shooting again: "Liberals, you own this. Your gun-free zone has killed people...Liberals, you have caused these people to die. "

On Hitler: "In 1932 the man was simply bringing hope and change to Germany."

3. And we see the same argument being made by "liberal" gun worshipers here on DU.

Maybe since Dec. 17th, he's figured this out. These people blow off their mouths before engaging their brains.

1. What does political correctness have to do with Gun-Free Zone?

2. How do liberals produce killers by political correctness?

3. Why do they always bring Hitler into everything? I'm sure his hope and change was the same as Obama's hope and change.

I think we have another that needs some time on the couch.

Just sayin'.

I guess it's because some people feel an intense need to hate and are being told not to by society and they just can't take it anymore and go nuts.

The solution offered by Conservatives is to bring back the good old days when people could openly hate without shame.

Yes, that's as good a theory as any. It might be what Hedgecock meant. I called to ask him, and the call screener had me on hold for one hour and then hung up on me without putting me on to ask, saying they were done talking about guns for the day.

it's "political correctness". Hedgecock talks about this "political correctness" causing the tragedies. The right-wing invented that term years ago, and all it seems to be IMO is a way to justify being mean to people who are different from you or who share different ideologies. The main people who whine about this so-called political correctness are people like him, who have had all the breaks in life.

OK, I do not currently own a gun. That doesn't say I have a problem with responsible gun ownership.
This loon seemed to advocate that if more people 'carried' it wouldn't be a problem.
Might be that I'm getting old here and I just don't understand how that would help.
Movie theaters are dark by nature. That would mean poor visibility.
Some wacko sets off a fog bomb further degrading the visibility and then opens fire.
The first defender has little problem finding the bad guy. He aims at the mussel flash.
The second defender has a slightly more difficult problem. Their are two mussel flashes. Which one is the bad guy?
The third defender has even more choices. More chances to be wrong.
The forth even more opertinuties.
Given enough defenders, why would something like this not happen.
