1. It's a Faux affiliate (for clarification), but what WAS she trying to say???

This smells like a CLASSIC Freudian slip.

13. It's WTTG, the Fox Broadcasting O&O in DC. Same ownership as FNC.

I guess this station takes national and world new from FNC. Just like how a lot of Clear Channel-owned news/talk stations that carry Rush Limbaugh also carry Fox News Radio on the hour.

2. Hate Fox but let's not stoop to their level... I don't know what she was saying or thinking.

Inigural or Inaugural.. I don't believe it was deliberate or unconscious but just a stupid slip of tongue.

Looks bad, but they look bad for bigger reasons than this slip of a syllable, so lets stay away from it.

Move along here.

4. How is showing racism "stooping to their level"?

And it can't be neither "deliberate or unconscious". Literally it has to be one or the other. This is just silly.

5. So she decided to say "Inig", consciously?

Does every syllable come out of your mouth perfect ever day of every year?

My point is this:

Don't look fucking silly picking out something that was probably just a slip.

It makes our ass look big.

7. No one's saying it was or wasn't a "slip"

It happened. It is terribly unsurprising considering the source, intentional or otherwise. That is a critique of Fox News in general. I'll leave it to the community to decide what to make of the video for themselves.

11. I think it was.

Moving right a long I would say that was a slip and slips of course are unintended but why create cover up excuses for something as foolish and as ignorant as that so called news caster.

And I agree leave it to the community-that really must be viewed.

And moved right along into further viewing-
I had no clue there are more out there like Sarah-,I though Palin was uniquely weird.

For the average person ,yea, it came out very wrong- but don't give a professional media newscaster ,journalist the bennefit of the doubt -those people are trained -the average person is not.

That is unexceptable by all professional standards.

give the air head a free pass ,like it's not bad enough the air we breath is polluted like all hell so why not give the air heads free rain to pollute the television air waves as well. What a fooking rush no kidding.

Stop creating excuses for those air heads.

How revolting.
And I'm outraged .

Is there no place left in the world where there are no air heads !

I'm more agreeing with the people saying this was a common flub that just sounded particularly bad. I think the fact that this is on the local Fox affiliate makes it tempting to think otherwise, but I think it's more likely a flub.

26. Freud discussed many reasons for slips of the tongue...

Freud discussed the numerous reasons for slips. He didn't invent the typically termed "Freudian slip" which concentrates on one reason, unconscious attitudes, as the reason.

This slip has the appearance of a consolidation of words into an easy word to enunciate. Banalisation.

My guess is that she and others have been using the term to refer to the inaugural in daily conversations and it was a natural continuance for her but she didn't quite catch herself while reporting. I hope I am wrong but I don't think so. Please continue "real Americans." Keep showing the world what you are truly made of.

I remember a horrifying situation where I said cuntilever instead of cantilever and I have no idea why it came out that way. I'm a woman, I was talking to a man and a woman, there was nothing in my mind or thoghts to have caused it.

But really, I don't need to expain myself or my opinion. Feel free to accuse me or anyone of anything you like. I just prefer to default to the good in people until they prove otherwise.

47. not accusing

just wondering. I have been in mixed company when the n-word slipped from the lips of a particular person talking to another about a mutual acquaintance. Hell, that word is used constantly in this society because the culture we have is mean and vicious. I was not accusing you, I just know that word is used a lot in private speech in america. not trying to offend. on edit: I wish everyone would refrain from using that word, both blacks and whites. But that is a fantasy wish only. Never happen. When I try to educate young blacks as to the origin and spirit behind that word, most look at me like I'm out of it and I guess I am. Last summer the kids cutting my grass were using that word a lot. I told them my feelings as to the origin and spirit behind that word, one out of four stopped using that word, for a while. That word will curse our spirit till the end of time, I fear. So, no offense meant.

48. You said you weren't accusing me "yet" -- that's where I got that from.

I hate the N word, too. I grew up calling Brazil nuts "n" toes -- having no idea what the "n" word, or even the word Negro meant at that age. It's pretty shocking to realize that it was so acceptable back then.

For all I know, the reporter in question could use the "n" word perjoratively all the time in private life, and even called it the "innigeration" regularly. If so, shame, but I just don't think we can assume that to be the case. I like to think the best of people until proved otherwise, if only so I can keep some hope in my heart that the world is basically good.

34. You asked the right question

She is what is understood as being an air head. Certainly you don't think she got the job because she is smart do you? Clearly you can see she is no judge Judy !

Theater stage actors are trained to move right along when such (incidents)happen, slips, or forgetting lines-they simply move on as though there was no slip- never do they stop and correct. Such a slip of tongue for the actor can mean the end of that actors career, unless that actor is well seasoned and billable.

Sure we are all just human and we al make mistakes. A seasoned actor who flaws a line will make you the audience believe it never happened- thats talent. The actor will in effect transport you the audience,! Thats real talent. You might remember there was some sort of flaw back there ,barley remember, or why bother to.

Television journalists are trained or told to do the same as stage actors do- move along as though there is or was no flaw. They move along-never do they stop to self correct.

That woman is an air head and full of flaws f. slips and what ever the hell else floats around in airheads heads.
They begin dropping out of collage in the second year and by the 3rd they are all gone as a rule but not always. There is no such thing as exceptional or a gifted air head. They simply are what they are.

Sarah Palin for example is the text book definition of air head ,that is if it made it's way into the dictionary.

Clearly you saw she is not talented and is not much of a journalist.
But hay-you don't have to take my word for it, just return to your old school and ask around the english department- hay,ask somebody who isn't pretty to look at who teaches courses in journalism -like one who can write up a storm and teach really well too. That is if you really want to know just what the hell is wrong with her.
