Gawd, I feel old. With a reason, apparently.

2. My ex-wife told me the 'You' of "you're so"...

...years ago (wife was hippie girlfriend of (?), but I'm committed to secrecy.

3. Initials M.J.?

Bobby Keys (Stones sax player) said in his recently published autobiography that Carly told him it was Mick.
Oops...that's right, you're sworn to secrecy. Well, my best authority is that tidbit from his book. Been fun speculating about this over the years.

4. We drove down to visit friends in Florida later that month

Interesting drive. I-95 wasn't quite complete, so every once in a while you'd find yourself on a stretch of back road, going through the swamps with tottering shacks to either side. I also recall seeing the news that Lyndon Johnson had died on a motel TV along the way.

And every hour or so, you had to switch to a different local AM station on the radio -- and it seemed like every one of them was playing "You're So Vain" just as we tuned in. I *really* got to hate that song.

5. hmm

http://www.carlysimon.com/You%27re_So_Vain.html#.UOSuWrapaqQ

I always thought it was Warren Beatty, who (according to Carly
in above link) called her to thank her for the song, and thought
it was about him.

Random fact I was living in Nova Scotia for that total eclipse
of the sun, summer of '72. The eclipse was full right where
we lived. An unforgettable experience.

6. From that same link...

On one hand....

PO: Warren Beatty or Mick Jagger?

Carly: Neither

PO: You're kidding me?

Carly: I may be kidding you.

PO: You won't tell?

Carly: No, I won't tell.....well, it's certainly not, not about Warren.

On the other hand....

Rita Braver: Everyone thinks You're So Vain is about Mick Jagger.

Carly: Oh, they don't really think that.

RB: Yes - they do.

Carly: Okay.

RB: Is it?

Carly: Oh, no, no, no.

12. Locking

From the forum SOP:

Thank you.
