2. I was scared to open the link.

Afraid that someone had found a way to reanimate the old bastard.

He was a real slime.

5. Lol

It was actually pretty sad those last few years, because after the stroke he couldn't speak well, so he was about thirty seconds behind the countdown.

3. He mentions this is the first time without Dick Clark, he is wrong.

When he just had his stroke, he had to miss one New Years Eve. His spot was taken by Regis Philbin. So this is actually the second time Dick Clark is not on, now permanently sad to say.

4. Yup

You are right. I meant without him, meaning he's deceased.

7. It was annoying how ABC made New Years about him.

It made me wonder if he made so much money for them they couldn't afford to bury him.

Instead of live action, they substituted half the night to American Bandstand clips. Even worse, apparently to avoid royalties, they only played excerpts of songs. It came off like a K-Tel commercial.

To note: I'm nearly 60, and I consider him as from my older sister's bobby sox generation, so who are their target audience?

8. I didn't watch the tribute

Was it really that bad? It's terrible that they didn't use full clips.

10. I finally found The CW Channel.

I didn't know it was only a tribute, it seemed to go on painfully forever. I thought it was trhe theme for the night.

I changed the channel just in time to see Green Day do "American Idiot". They bleeped it so much, it's good I know the song. At the end, they strangely smashed their instruments (and the amps), and walked off with a wave while saying: "We'll be back in a while". It didn't appear as though they would to me.

I think it was in Vegas.

9. He was dead for me after his scene in Bowling for Columbine.

"Shut the door," he said, when Moore confronted him about the piss poor pay his workers made. "SHUT THE DOOOORR!!"

11. That Scene Was Very Powerful

Dick Clark was unaware, uncaring and unsympathetic. He was also an extreme narcissist. I could give a rat's ass that he's dead and gone.

12. So What!

People need to stop getting fixated on this crapola celebritard culture or drown in it altogether. The tribute went on way too long. New Year's came finally, and we've hopefully put this tribute shit behind us forever...never to repeat it again.
