Papantonio: GOP Hate Knows No Bounds

After a year of belittling women, African Americans, unions, the elderly, college students, and the poor, it would seem almost impossible for the Republicans to sink any lower. But a few weeks ago, they managed to hit a low that left a lot of card-carrying Republicans with a bad taste in their mouths, when Republican members of Congress actually voted against an international treaty that would have recognized the rights of disabled people. Mike Papantonio talks about the GOP's descent to the bottom with Nancy Cohen, author of the book "Delirium."

3. Republicans think

People who are disabled are just moochers, most of whom should never be given any handouts or consideration because they believe those who apply for disability are really just lazy Americans who don't wish to work for a living.

Its not that Republicans don't have any shame, its that they are all selfish and self absorbed and don't wish to contribute to the society they are living in, in any form or in any manner. They put their money off shore for a reason, so they don't have to contribute anything.

4. Yep, and they all come armed with some vague tale of a

guy on disability who was photographed chopping firewood or welfare recipient buying booze.
I heard much of this RW crap over the holidays with my family.

5. IDEA - Individuals with Disabilities Education Act is for persons age birth through age 25 needing

special education programs and supportive care. Child Find begins at birth to identify the health care needs of Americans. The IDEA fund has literally billions and billions of dollars and is reauthorized every Spring by Congress.

During the first presidential debate, Mitt Romney mentioned IDEA. And everyone knows that the GOP Platform calls for the closing of the US Department of Education. A school district gets IDEA funding by writing a grant application based on needed programs for the education and related needs of disabled students. Little of the money has been ask for even though the US Department of Education will help anybody write a grant.

Under Child Find, if a person believes that a baby or toddler needs special help to attain a more normal life, they can go to the school district office and make a statement. IDEA means that the school district has 30 days service time of providing special education services until an ARD meeting can be set up. During that time a parent or anyone else should contact the US Department of Education to set up the grant writing paperwork. Waiting may cause the school district to deny the need in that upcoming ARD meeting. It is best to contact the State Education Agency at the same time well before the end of this 30 days. It is their job to help you through the process. Always use certified letters. Rehabilitation is already, "supposed" to be in place over that 30 days: Section 5 of the Rehabilitation Act 1973, should already be in place under the umbrella of IDEA.

Providing access to special programs is a part of the Americans with Disabilities Act. And your advocacy for that child (could be a neighbor child, relative, etc.) is protected under the Civil Rights Act of 1964. And establishing rehabilitation in the school is a part of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and its updates.

Removing these civil rights to our children with disabilities is the most immoral and sickening action that the GOP can come up with. In my opinion it would be like pushing then out into the school hall way and leaving them there unattended.

In 1930's Germany, part of the Final Solution began by Denouncement in which disabled German children were sent to orphanages and if they could not work, they were injected with an overdose of morphine to cause death.

Please feel free to so a little research on what an ARD Meeting is.

"gotta get rid of the religious crazies."
The question is HOW?

Perhaps SANE religious Christians should take back their doctrines. Public debates might be one possible action.....
