Caught Michael Savage taking stats about gun control/state killings from a CHAIN MAIL!

(My comments concern the part starting 1:15.)

In his opening segment of last Friday's Savage Nation, host Michael Savage criticized Rep. Jerrold Nadler's call for more gun law after the Newtown school shooting. He then began listing stats claiming that countries that instituted gun control later committed mass murders. Such as: "In 1929 the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated."

I did a google search...Snopes.com has a page designating those stats as part of a chain mail and is currently reviewing the presented info. (The participants at the Snopes message board are also breaking down those claims.)

Bummer. This kind of lazy "scholarship" the week after a rather sensible commentary on 12/14 criticizing those who hoard guns?

And also that day he advocated banning those on psych meds from owning guns

The figure of 20 million dissidents executed sounds wildly exaggerated -- though it probably includes the people who died in the famine. But the real problem is the implication that the Soviet Union wasn't executing dissidents before 1929 and that it wouldn't have been able to execute them after that if they'd only had guns to ward off the OGPU. Which is total nonsense.

7. All Statistics are About State Sponsored Pogroms/Exterminations

I linked to the Snopes chain email page and every single statistic was about a state sponsored pogrom.

Does this idiot not know the difference?

We are concerned about our fellow citizens turning our nation into a mass murder zone.

There's not a hell of a lot any of us could do if the U.S. government decided to use our military might to round up people and start killing. Nobody has that kind of weaponry--unless we're now going to legalize RPGs, land mines, personal stashes of nerve gas, depleted uranium 50 caliber munitions, 50 cal machine guns, MRAP equipped vehicles ...etc

Let us begin to compare apples to watermelons and clods of dirt to diamonds to make our points.

Michael Savage makes Rush look smart and that's not easy to do.
