1. This was not just comedy.

The right-wing's position on guns back then was similar to what it is today. This was making fun of that.

7. Archie's editorial was so over the top that it was easy to fit into satire...

Now you have politicians who sound like him talking about it on Sunday shows. Exhibit A Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX). Too bad Archie wasn't around today he might be a tea party rep.

15. Me, too.

This came to mind almost immediately, because as we all knew, the RW would immediately latch onto the "arm everyone" meme. They're so predictable.

10. I've been watching "All in the Family" lately...

and it is so depressing to realize that nothing has changed in 42 years! The Republicans are still using the Archie Bunker defense on everything.

11. "...just pass out the pistols..."!

The first time I saw that when I was about 17 or 18 I nearly pissed my pants laughing.

Today, it's the republican platforn!

PEACE!

16. I love watching All In the Family reruns.

Carrol O'Connor played that role to hilt, it is a shame jokes about the right wingers are still relevant 40 years later.

17. That line on passing out the guns

got the biggest laugh. Ok, it may have been a laugh track or a signal for the audience members to laugh. But it wasn't meant for the audience members to say, "Hmm... what a great idea!"
