(1,009 posts)as a kid. Toy guns, of course. Then we got a BB gun and pellet gun. One day, I pointed my pellet gun pistol at my cousin's head and pulled the trigger. Poof went the CO2 cartridge inside. No pellet in the chamber, but that was enough to awaken me to the fact that I could have seriously injured my cousin (doubt a pellet would kill him). I stopped handling guns from then on, toys or real. In fact, I used to (and still do) loved to draw and I drew a lot of guns. After that incident, I made a conscious effort never to even draw a gun.
Just too dangerous in the hands of irresponsible people, and I put myself in that list.
Thinking back when I was 7 one of my brothers got a BB gun, and he cocked full of air and put it to the middle of my forehead and pulled the trigger. I had a small indentation and many tears. Most of the tears I like to think, were revenge tears. I am the baby of the family among 3 older brothers. More tears, more trouble. LOL! We also had sticky dart guns and pukers on our heads. LOL!
is the reason why this society/american culture is so fucked up! And I really won't care if someone doesn't agree.

passed on. Kids around here have those machine gun looking water guns. Some kid had a pellet gun and was shooting birds out the trees and at cats in the neighborhood. Not until I hollered at him and went to the parents did it stop. Kids still get toy pistols, ahh it goes on and on, this inculcating of the gun mentality into the children. Not to mention those violent computer games with the blood splattering with a hit or a kill. All this is imprinting on impressionable minds. My theory anyway. I don't claim to have any answers just things to try.

(15,189 posts)We didn't need warnings like "Do Not Attempt", as a car jumps off the top of the building to land on the other side. I loved playing with toy guns, even a good straight stick if it's handy.
