1. My father gave me my first book by Fromm when I was twelve.

It was The Art Of Loving and I read it and then he gave me Escape From Freedom and The Sane Society later. I purchased his book The Art of Being last year.

I've heard Fromm later described as a Marxist. Chomsky regards him as superficial, but each to his own. Here's more if anyone is interested:

I just found the text of his Introduction to Socialist Humanism: An International Symposium if anyone wants it.

4. Eric Fromm always was a good read.

My favorite: "The Art of Being." I still have his books on my shelves.

6. Erich Fromm

I read a number of his books, more than I can say unfortunately about Chomsky. I still have a couple, the art of loving came of as a little tedious to me, especially when he described one of Jung's dreams as a literal death wish for Freud. My favorite book was The Forgotton Language, which dealt with the unconscious. but his social commentaries were very educational.
