I'm sure that these two a-holes saw the prank as being harmless, but that's the same sort of attitude that bullies have. They don't think it's a big deal until some kid kills himself, and then they excuse their behavior by saying that they never meant for it to happen. What they were doing was mean and hurtful (seriously, messing with a pregnant woman in the hospital?) I don't expect them to wind up in jail, but I think they need to pursue new careers outside of the media.
