Park Avenue: Money, Power, & the American Dream

I just finished watching this excellent documentary on the 'PBS World' program, Independent Lens. It explores a basic question that I think we've all been asking ourselves for awhile now... How much inequality is too much?

Checked, and found that the full 60 minute episode can be viewed online until November19th at this link: (Btw, you can bypass the clip shown in this thread by skipping ahead to about the 4.00 minute mark) http://video.pbs.org/video/2300849486

Here is their description and 3 minute clip:
Academy Award-winning director Alex Gibney presents his examination of how the gap between rich and poor Americans has become so stark, as illustrated by this famous boulevard in New York City.

4. My apologies to you LOoniX.

I somehow missed both of those posts. Rec'd them fwiw.

But yeah, it appears that you are right about the subject matter. Not salacious enough I suppose.

6. No apologies needed or wanted. It is rather pathetic though...

that people would rather focus on other things that are not nearly as important. These rich .01% are out to destroy our democracy and government. If they get their way the only part of our government that will remain will be the military ...and they will try to fully privatize that too.

2. I saw this one too. ONe of the best on money in politics I've ever seen. don't expect FRONTLINE to

do one like this! Of course, PBS had to hold this till after the election to avoid the rage and retribution of the rabid Right. They would have been accused of airing an Obama "negative" ad!!

Everybody should see this and recommend it to everybody they know.

recommended.

5. Yes, I agree w/you about Frontline.

Sad, because it used to be one of my favorite programs.

But thanks for the rec. Btw, while on the independent lens site, I saw some other full episode programs that also look very interesting. Plan on checking them out later.

10. Save America

I'm a Canadian who saw this for the first time last nite. I agree this is a fantastic piece. I wanted send this to all my contacts in the hope this would go viral but couldn't find a free link. Your mission (if you choose to accept it) is make it go viral. Hulu is not yet available to Canada so send the Hulu link to everyone you know. Shit I get all those stupid chain letters I detest, hopefully something this important will get watched. BTW, I contacted PBS to let them know I was disappointed that this isn't available for viewing on their site. Wish I could get this to the ostriches up in the north. I fear many of us up here are on the same path. Park St tycoons are doing things to America that
Al Qaeda would only hope to achieve.
