Imagine how much expansion he could do if he didn't have to pay his workers at all. He could provide endless green establishments.

1. Another restaurant I won't be visiting again.

Our healthcare system should NOT be tied to your employment.
Or insurance companies. |

2. Hey Zane...

Why not take care of your employees first as the law demands and then worry about
expanding your business? Or else, torch your restaurants and collect the insurance, you cheap bastard... |

Your current employees will find other and better places to work and you save the public from your crappy cancer causing foods. Works for me.

was even a trace of concern for the wellbeing of his employees. In my experience, people do not choose between Applebees, Chillis, TGIFridays, and other eateries of this sort based on nickles and dimes on the price of the food. They go where they like the food and the service. If they want to save money, they cook at home. Every restaurant of this sort is dealing with the same financial issue, so the tab goes up a buck or two pretty much everywhere at the same time and it really makes no difference, except the employees now have healthcare.

It is both sad and interesting that cutting employees adrift is simply discussed as collateral damage of a business model, with no moral dimension or weight what so ever. The American people are simply a dispensable commodity to these folks.

17. They are an externality
|
Any cost to the individual employee in terms of health and illness is entirely external to their business practice. The employees complete inability to afford healthcare does not concern these bastards one iota.
It is repugnant. Honestly, if you are unwilling to pay your workers a decent wage and provide some kind of health insurance than you can bus your own damned dishes. It is immoral to employ people at less than a living wage and it is immoral to expect employees and their children to suffer the deprivation of healthcare for your profit margin. CEO's of America pick up the check. |

another franchise business? Our "reporters" need to clarify this. CEO's with big mouths and bigger egos are not worth the time when they really have limited power because of franchising.

The deal with American Franchise Capital LLC is part of the chain's strategy to become a 99-percent franchised restaurant system Read more: http://nrn.com/article/applebees-sells-33-locations-franchisee#ixzz2C6wUC0uU https://www.applebees.com/about-us/international-franchising/franchise-requirements tho there 'requirements', or rules as it looks to be.. seem pretty crazy :p |

I for one will not go to a restaurant where I know that the majority of employees do not get decent health care. How many people are going to feel comfortable eating and feeding their children entrees prepared and served by people who cannot afford luxuries like flu shots and TB tests?

we started boycotting Limbaugh's advertisers but we soon forgot about it...if we would have stuck to our guns we may have gotten him off the air...Boycott Papa John's and Applebee's...If these billionaire's can't pay a little more (say 10 cents a pizza) we need to stand our ground and simply protest...strength in numbers

Last edited Tue Nov 13, 2012, 08:20 PM USA/ET - Edit history (1) if that is the case, is it also true for Papa John, and etc bellyachers?
Isn't there already a law that insurance must be provided by an employer if you work full time? I might be confused, but I thought that there was a mandate already. Anyone? |
