They not only are not over it, they are still trying to win it... Rewriting history in books intended for education. So stop your wondering, if you really were.

4. What to know just HOW out of their minds?
|
Some delusional Freeper posted a list of states advocating secession which included NEW YORK and NEW JERSEY. Oh, yeah, they turned RED because of Hurricane Sandy??????? Duh, the Election was AFTER Sandy, and the vote was for Romney?????? That one is certifiable insane.

"alter or abolish" - not secede from.

with this girl from the south that moved up north where I live. (She's not a crazy republican, voted for Obama) But she had told me that in the south where she was from they didn't call it the civil war. They call it the War of Northern Aggression

8. Idiots call it that.
|
The rest of us call it by its real name. If you ask someone about it, you've got about a fifty fifty chance of hearing either one.
The people that call it that are the same ones that are hell bent to convince people that the civil war was about absolutely anything and everything but slavery. |

10. Almost every secessionist state issued a 'causes for secession' article at the legislature level.
|
If memory serves, every last one boiled down to 'the north is taking away slavery'.

11. Yeah, they try to hide it behind a towering wall of bullshit.
|
"Secession was about state's rights!" kind of stuff. Which is true, in the absolute broadest sense of the phrase. It was about the "right" of states to insist it was ok to own another human being.
But yeah, the ones that aren't absolute fabrications boil down to not wanting to give up slavery. |

12. What many forget...
|
is that hundreds of thousands, if not millions of Northerners live in Southern states now. We moved south for many reasons we have not become Southerners but have remained Americans first. There is no way that their very retro idea will get any traction.
Here in Texas the state receives a great part of its revenue from AMERICAN taxpayers through the many military and NASA related installations. We are talking billions of dollars and GOP greed would not let them lose that money. They probably took LSD and are having flashbacks. |
