Stewart Gleefully Rips Into FoxNews Election Coverage: ‘There Was An Avalanche On Bullsh*t Mountain'

VIDEO here: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/jon-stewart-gleefully-rips-into-fox-news-election-coverage-there-was-an-avalanche-on-bullsht-mountain/

Jon Stewart recapped all the big news from last night’s election, but saved his harshest criticisms for Fox News, Karl Rove, and in particular, five fateful minutes of the network in near-pandemonium after Ohio was called for President Obama that Stewart predicted would live on forever. -snip-

8. Not just entertaining, but very enlightening too

The last 90 seconds or so of the video really hit a chord with me when Bill O' was talking about 50% of Americans thinking they are entitled to things. I just about jumped out of my seat when he brought up the line "the white establishment is now a minority" and that we aren't a traditional American country anymore.

That line really says a lot about what the republicans think about this country and their attitudes in general. It is exactly how I used to feel in my early 20s when I leaned republican with my politics. I was (well, I guess I still am) a white, straight, male that will end up in the upper middle class. I have so much privilege and opportunities around me that I don't even realize how much certain segments of our population struggle. Until I actually made a black friend and heard his stories about the continued racism he faces I had no idea that racism and the bias against black males in our society like he experienced still exists. I thought sort of thing was over in the 1960s. My wife studied feminism, sociology, and anthropology and had a Masters Degree in those subjects and she has done an amazing amount in opening my eyes to the biases I lived in and was a part of.

Well, I guess Bill O' is right. We aren't a traditional American society anymore. Instead of only white males like myself having the best opportunity to move up in our society we are starting to expand those opportunities to women, gays, blacks, hispanics, etc. This is the America that our founding fathers envisioned and this is the American that we here are fighting for.

I like how Bill O' goes on to say that 50% of the country voted for Obama because of their sense of entitlement. That is kind of funny after he mentions his line of the white republican being the minority now. The white republicans are just mad that they have to share their privilege with anyone other than fellow white republicans.

Very enlightening to me.

Anyways, I'm so proud of our country (again) after last nights election. This was a huge night for civil rights and the progressive cause. There was a lot more at stake than the presidency last night and, as most of you know, the future of the supreme court for 30 years could be impacted as well (not to mention the victories for gay marriage). Congratulations America, the ideal of an America that the founding father envisioned won last night!

9. We voted for Obama because we feel entitled to things?

Yes, I am entitled. The things I want are: health care for ALL, Food for All, Water for ALL, Shelter for ALL, High school and college Education for ALL.

See everyone, even the poor, pay some amount of taxes: income taxes, sales taxes, service taxes, property taxes, car and wheel taxes, Social Security taxes, Medicare taxes and the list goes on and on. We ALL pay these taxes and we ALL deserve something in return for them. And I believe some amount of basic living standard is what we deserve for All these taxes we pay. Stop wasting our money on bombs and bailouts for bankers. Stop throwing away my hard earned money on subsidies for fat rich people.

I do not want to see people hungry and miserable in my country. The rich don't seem to mind it, but I do. Yes, I expect things for all my tax dollars Bill O. I expect that everyone, not just rich white, old men to have those things.

11. "Is this math that you do as a Republican to feel better, or is this real."

What is she doing on FoxNews? On second thought, we need her to stay on that network. The pin that gets to burst the bubble.
