UAW Files Charges Against Romney on his Auto Bail-out Profiteering

Last edited Fri Nov 2, 2012, 12:47 PM - Edit history (1)

“While Romney was opposing the rescue of one of the nation’s most important manufacturing sectors, he was building his fortunes with his Delphi investor group, making his fortunes off the misfortunes of others,” King added.

The Romneys' gigantic windfall was hidden inside an offshore corporation inside a Limited Partnership inside a trust which both concealed the gain and reduces taxes on it.

The Romneys' windfall was originally exposed in Nation Magazine, Mitt Romney's Bail-out Bonanza after a worldwide investigation by our crew at The Guardian, the Nation Institute and the Palast Investigative Fund. (Ed. - The full story of Romney and his "vulture fund" partners is in Palast's New York Times bestseller, Billionaires & Ballot Bandits.)

This video comes from the Greg Palast website which includes a link on the righhand side to download a leaflet called '7 Ways to Beat the Ballot Bandits.'

Thank you Greg Palast.

Truth is sexy.

Burn Romney, his crooked family and partners to the ground !!!

They are traitors.

They do not represent the values of U.S. working citizens.

Mitt, his family, his business partners and his supporters are lower than pond scum !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go after them with the tenacity of a pit bull UAW !!!!!!

When the GOP shriek about the government and future generations, they willfully ignore all about the people hurt by these massive thefts. The only generations that matter to them are those they intend to pass on these riches to, their own families who believe they should inherit the Earth.

The DOJ going after every scandal that is being brought out from politics would be called oppression and an abuse of power.

This kind of vulture capitalism is depraved and has stolen the present and future of many American families who will be suffering for years from this. Even with an Obama win, this needs to go forward.

Because this is going to keep being the business model pushed by the global con men like Romney, the Koch family and those who have benefitted from it. This will require a sustained effort at almost the same intensity as the election for at least a generation, or we cede the Earth's wealth to these guys. We can't afford to do that.

used the money to source offshore in China for the components, pocketing the proceeds. That's the RMoney business model in a nutshell.

Appalling, and could well be criminal. Should be.

We can't go back and not be global players in trade, but he's found reasons to put tariffs that were upheld to protect American jobs in steel, solar and other industries. He has resisted foreign money being used in campaigns, but the net is tight around us. The people who believe in the business model they've been shoving down our throats, as well as much of the world, don't intend to give up without a fight. This is not over by any means. We must educate Americans and it's going to be very hard to get the truth out.

because 20 or 30 years ago, multinational companies were still essentially US-based.

Now, as opponents warned then, this has caused a structural shift of jobs and capital offshore. The WTO agreements, particularly the GATT, make it practically impossible for governments to erect tariffs and to pressure companies to build up national industries.

We may need to rethink the trade rules, particularly on manufactured goods, now that they no longer work in our favor.

Obama is taking the right track with his focus on higher education and healthcare and jobs here. This is how we will compete or maintain things vis a vis other nations who subsidize such things.

This is a tradition in most societies, that the educated will innovate and move things forward. To what, we are not sure, but having masses of people uneducated, sickly and illiterate, is the recipe for poverty and degradation of all kinds.

We don't begrudge the wealthy if their talent or abilities have organized those with less to make real wealth, but should not allow them to walk away from the obligation to support those who worked for them. That's what we have lost, the sense that all people have their place, that all should be given a chance to expand our world.

To Mittens and Ann, this is like Monopoly Money. But it's real money to those who were ripped off by them. It's going to take years of Obama and progressives turn the tide on this. The first step is to get Obama in for a second term, which they know will put them on the line for going to jail.

As Bill Maher said, the GOP isn't a political movement, it's a witness protection program. All of these guys are desperate to keep from being brought to account and will spend milions of dollars to keep that happening.

This isn't just this election that we have to win. We have to keep on this. Voting once every 4 years isn't enough. The revelations need to go deeper and ferret out all of this corruption and thievery.
