8. The President was no Bartlet tonight.

It was a terrible performance.

9. He also didn't have a bunch of writers scripting a whole scene to make him look good...

Including a buffoon candidate who says something remarkably dumb that allows for a perfect setup like this.

10. Heheh! Well, that was true of Bartlett, but not Santos. Alan Alda's Republican was

not a buffoon. He was pretty sharp.

So, when Vinick pulled the "why are liberals afraid to call themselves liberals" meme, Santos went into his speech about liberalism on cue. Obama could have done that a couple of times, but didn't.

11. Again, scripted shows...

With a basic outline and basic dialogue to move the plot along. Obama is not an actor who's playing a role ... he's the President of the United States. He doesn't have the luxury to write, rewrite and map out an entire debate. Yes, I understand that West Wing episode was 'live' when it originally aired ... but the whole plot was already long developed and the actors long memorized their lines. What Santos read was a line from a script that was written and rewritten by a writer who also wrote the perfect segue to that comment.

It's not real life. I hate when people compare presidents to actors from a scripted show.
