Keep It Quick? Whistleblower Manning trial drawn out indefinitely

Published on Oct 2, 2012 by RussiaToday

The lawyer for whistleblowing US soldier Bradley Manning has demanded all charges be dropped. He says Manning's case is being deliberately protracted. The trial will only start in February, while according to US court martial rules, it should've begun over two years ago.

1. Keep in mind that not all the delays have occurred due to the prosecutors, specifically....

...but not necessarily exclusively the most recent delay:

Manning also is asking the military judge to postpone his September trial date to give both sides more time to obtain and study the documents.

The judge indicated during a hearing earlier this month that the trial probably will be postponed to November or January.

2. Well, it's hard to go to trial when you don't have all the documents you need.

There has been way too much secrecy surrounding this case.

3. Is there a reason why THEY asked for a delay and a couple of weeks later cried foul?
