The City of Chicago is handling that, along with churches. This is a terrible situation which Rahm Emanuel precipitated by trying to re-invent the schools in the middle of a recession.

But the neoliberal program of privatization and corporate model bureaucratic control of educators is nothing new, it's global and has been going on since 80's. Students and teachers have been fighting the same fight everywhere. Now is your chance to turn the tide and occupy education. Timing couldn't be better, election campaign in post OWS US makes it very difficult for 1% corporate Dems to go against teacher unions and the 99% with full force.
